After Pendrim Melir‘s attack on Vayliri, Validar was separated from his siblings and attendants. He managed to reconnect with Meerya Hileah, and though he searched for his other siblings, he could not find them. The two of them found safety with the Scaleguard. Ever since, Validar has harbored hatred for Pendrim Melir and his deeds; killing his family, subjugating his dragon, and taking his kingdom. To that end, Validar took up the alias of the Shatterer, taken from a failed assassin. Under that name, Validar continues to harass the usurper king.[
